Artist Statement
My work draws inspiration from my curiosity about the human experience, historic objects and their roles in contemporary life, and the expressive potential of form. The historical pots and artifacts I reference are chosen for their connection to the information and experiences that have shaped my perspective, as well as their aesthetic appeal. I often envision non-utilitarian objects as utilitarian pots. The teapot, for instance, serves as a universal symbol of function; its recognizable shape allows for the transformation of non-utilitarian items, like earrings, into functional pots simply by adding a spout and handle. Ultimately, I aim to connect the past and present, exploring the role of tradition in our lives, the transfer of information carried by objects or people, and how this information persists and evolves over time.
